Homemade Corn Dogs

Ingredients
•10 hot dogs
•10 hot dogs
•10 bamboo sticks
•1 c flour
•1 c cornmeal
•2 tbsp granulated sugar
•1 tsp salt
•1 c buttermilk
•2 tsp baking powder
•2 tbsp honey
•1 egg
•2 qt vegetable oil, divided
Directions
  1. Grab a large bowl and whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Next, add buttermilk, honey, egg, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the same bowl and whisk together and combine with the dry ingredients. Put bowl aside and let rest for 10 min.
  3. While batter is resting, heat remaining vegetable oil in a skillet or dutch oven - up to 350 degrees.
  4. If you’re wanting bites, cut hot dogs into bite size pieces. If you’re using the skewers, thread them and leave enough room to hold the bottom of the stick.
  5. Grab batter and stir/dip the hot dogs in. We just kinda winged this technique - it can be a little messy. Shake off excess batter.
  6. Gently drop into the oil and cook for 3-5 minutes. We did very small batches because they can burn easily.
  7. Serve with you fave condiments and enjoy!
